Rahul visits Wayanad first time since disqualification

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited his erstwhile constituency Wayanad in Kerala for the first time on Tuesday after being disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha.

He was disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP a day after he was sentenced to two years in jail by a Surat court in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his “why all thieves have Modi surname” remark.

Rahul was elected as an MP in 2019 from Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi also met former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah personally ahead of his scheduled roadshow ‘Satyamev Jayate’ in the city.

Priyanka Gandhi will also reach Wayanad to accompany him on this tour. Both party leaders will participate in several programs in Wayanad. The tour is also being seen as a show of strength by the Congress.
