Major Train Accident In Odisha’s Balasore, Coromandal Express Derailed

The accident happened around 7.20 pm near Bahanaga Bazar station when the train was on the way to Chennai Central station from the Shalimar station near Kolkata. More than 300 passenger injured and rescue operation going on.

207 people died and over 900 more were injured after a passenger train hit the derailed coaches of Coromandel Express in Odisha’s Balasore district. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh for those with serious injuries and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries.

207 people died and over 900 more were injured after a passenger train hit derailed coaches of the Coromandel Express, which runs from Shalimar station in West Bengal to Chennai, in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening. A goods train was also involved in the accident, as per Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena.

The collision took place near the Bahanaga railway station in Balasore district and several passengers are feared to be trapped inside the overturned coaches of the superfast train. The second train involved in the accident was the Bengaluru-Howrah superfast express.

Railway Minister Ashwini announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh for those with serious injuries and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries. He said he is on his way to the accident site in Odisha and he will take all hands required for the rescue operations.
