A 17-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in an explosion that occurred in a house in Bhagalpur district’s Babarganj area on Saturday, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in an explosion that occurred in a house in Bhagalpur district’s Babarganj area on Saturday, police said.

According to the police, the explosion took place around 5:30 pm inside a two-storeyed building located in Hussainabad Quareshi locality, under the limits of Babarganj police station.

Although initial reports suggested that the explosion was caused by a cylinder blast, the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be determined. The blast caused a portion of the house, owned by Mohammad Abdul Gani, to collapse, leading to a fire break-out.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar stated, “We received information about a cylinder blast in the evening. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and fire brigade teams are present at the site. The explosion is under investigation, and debris clearance is currently underway.”

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Taushif Alam. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
