India's aspirations helping create jobs in US: PM Modi

On the final leg of his US state visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Indian-American entrepreneurs at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in Washington on Friday.

Addressing a crowd that chanted “Modi, Modi” both before and after his address, the Prime Minister highlighted how the India-US partnership has become a focal point for economic development in both countries, across several fields.

Referring to the Indian-Americans, PM Modi said, “All of you have made America reach great heights with your hard work.”

The PM stated that the Indian aspiration is giving strength to US aspiration in almost all sectors. I am happy that Indian companies are investing billions of dollars in the US. Indian companies are becoming global and reaching heights,” he said.

“Neo middle class is continuously growing in India. What India is doing to fulfill the aspirations of this section, has also opened the door to new possibilities for the US,” he said, giving an example of the expansion of the aviation industry in India.

“The demand in the aviation sector in India is increasing continuously, new records are being set. These demands need to be fulfilled. And the benefits of these demands are being reaped by American companies, jobs are being created here,” he said.

Drawing attention to the India-US defense partnership, the Prime Minister stated that the US is creating special relations with almost every state of the US, opening a new dimension of support and partnership.

“Be it textile, food or tourism, almost all sectors are seeing reflections of India’s aspirations on the US markets. The helicopters manufactured in several states, including Georgia, Alabama, Washington, Chicago, Pennsylvania, are enriching the Indian economy too,” he said.

He also mentioned that many Indians are working for MNCs spread across states in the US. “This benefits both countries equally. It is therefore important to strengthen this ground that the US and India both have set here,” he said.

India-US are moving ahead as the most reliable partners in several sectors including IT, Space, Manufacturing, AI, Defense, among others, the PM said.

PM Modi will conclude the last day of his US visit with an address to the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Center shortly. He attended a state dinner hosted by US president Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden at the White House on Thursday, followed by a joint sitting of the US Congress.
