Last year, Musk had already hinted at the development of ‘Twitter 2.0’ or ‘The Everything App’ — a new version that would introduce several enhancements, including encrypted direct messages (DMs), long-form tweets, and integrated payments.
Taking to Twitter, Musk disclosed additional details, stating that users can expect voice and video chat functionalities. These features will allow individuals to engage in conversations with others around the globe simply by using their Twitter handles, eliminating the need to exchange phone numbers. This move aligns Twitter with other social media applications like Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, which already offer similar calling capabilities.
